Motivation March

I've been thinking for a while that I should try and be healthier. I've been vegetarian for a few years and although that means my diet is healthier than it has been, you're never going to be that healthy when you love bourbon biscuits as much as I do. And I do. 

So after a particularly fattening February, I was feeling low and just *bleh* so I decided it was time for a change. And thus, Motivation March was born.
In-keeping with the sort of gung-ho spirit I like to enter into things with, I've taken up jogging (I'm not very good), am doing my best to exercise each day, I've given up alcohol for the month and have gone pretty much vegan. In the interests of full disclosure, I have Philadelphia cheese in the fridge, and I'm eating rather than wasting that, so not completely vegan. I expected that it would help me feel a bit better, but I'm only four days in and I love it. I know, early days yet. But this is why I'm only committing for a month. If I can't do it for a month, then I can't stick to anything!

 And of course, its encouraging me to cook more interesting food. I've been making giant pots of vegetable soup to see me through the week, but I did that anyway. The kicker for me is, and always has been snacks. I loooove snacks. The photos above are kale chips. Wow. Kale chips. Where have they been all my life?! All I did was salt a bag of prewashed and sliced kale and stick it in the oven for ten minutes. Amazing crispy goodness. Also good with a spritz of vinegar. I may never go back to crisps.

So it's going well. I got into a bit of a rut, I think, not sleeping well, eating rubbish and generally feeling a bit crap. As I say, it's early days yet, but eating clean and looking after myself has to be a good step forward.
